Sunday Session.

After a week-long visit from Gasto-asaurus in our household there was very little I had the energy for today (or anyone else in my family thank goodness!!!)

With a trail of toys from one end of the house to the other, I took refuge on the couch watching a Murder Mystery on the iPad and playing with Photoshop.

After watching a tips and tricks video from the Redbubble Blog
I tried creating a halftone screen texturey thing! (As seen on the grass)

I know……I have a way with words!!!!

Not too successful in my application but I’m sure I’ll get better.
It adds a bit of interest anyway.

Liebster Award gratefully accepted, Thank You.

This post is a big warm Thank You to Gwen and Elinor at
Life, the Universe and would you pass the custard creams?
They have nominated me for the Liebster Award.

In accepting this award they asked me to answer some questions…so here are the answers.

1. Who is your favourite comedian?
It changes but at the moment….. Sarah Millican. She is from my part of the UK and I love the fact that listening to her and her Dad reminds me of all my family. Words like ‘claggy’, ‘flower’ and champion’ are a sad loss to my adult like.

2. Why do you blog? Why did you set it up and what motivates you to keep posting?
Originally, I wanted to find a way back into the workforce on my own terms but felt that after 6 years of motherhood I needed a bit of a creative and confidence boost. The ‘being paid to create’ is yet to happen but to be honest that reason has fallen by the wayside a bit. I keep blogging because the feedback I get makes me feel I’m more that an unpaid skivvy.

3. Is there a song that never fails to get you all emotional, what is it?
Lots of music gets me emotional for different reasons. When, very rarely, watching sport I can cry at nearly all national anthems, patriotic songs and team anthems. ‘Land of Hope and Glory’ & ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ can turn me to a blubbering mess!!!!!
I also have a soft spot for ‘Lately’ by Stevie Wonder.

4. What subject interests you that other people might not know about? (for example do you know all about the 1918 flu epidemic or are you a train spotter?)
Nothing so interesting….but I do have a bit of a passion for an Agatha Christie Mystery…written or on-screen. I love a puzzle!

5. Would you ever consider becoming a politician?

6. What is your favourite kind of cake?
Anything created by the honourable Mr Kipling especially a cheeky Battenburg or Cherry Bakewell.

7. Have you ever freaked out over anything?
I freak out all the time…too numerous to remember a specific incident.

8. Do you secretly watch anything like children’s programmes, if so what?
For pure entertainment I LOVE…BIG BABIES! I highly recommend to all adults.
Being the Mum of a 4 & 6 children’s programmes are my main viewing.
I love from a purely visual point of view… Charlie & Lola, Stella & Sam, Ben & Holly’s Little Kingdom, Tilly and Friends & Olivia….all images by great illustrators

9. Where would you like to travel to?
I hate flying and anywhere out of Australia includes a loooooooooooong flight.
I quite like a road trip with little stop offs involving food and wine along the way.
We recently explored a local wine/cheese/fruit producing area for the day with the girls.
We visited a strawberry farm, brewery, cheese factory, goat farm, winery, olive grove and Cidery. To me that was perfection.

10. What is your most embarrassing moment?
Too embarrassing to mention.

11. What is your main method of procrastination?
The Fridge, Pinterest & YouTube….sometimes all at once

That Special Gift for the Wishful Thinker in your Life!

Been playing around with this idea for a while. This is probably the ideal pressie for most of the wishful thinking men in my family so I’m going to upload it onto my Society6 and Redbubble accounts.

Adding Some Colour To My Day

I started adding some colour to my ‘Fairy Border’ posted in
It is one of those jobs that you think will be finished in no time at all but 2 weeks in and I am still going. Mind you…I am lucky if I get an hour of uninterrupted time onscreen a day thanks to my own 2 busy little fairies. I am yet to add my little garden fairy and poem ….with any luck I may be finished by Christmas! I have added a linen texture behind which seems to make the colours pop. Not sure I will keep it the dove grey colour though…more experimentation needed I think.

Pyjama Days

School holidays for us means a few days in the week when, come 3pm, we are still in our pyjamas. I LOVE these days. My girls love these days. No timetable, no pressure, no uniforms…just chilling the day away watching movies, eating at odd times and enjoying each others company (most of the time!!!!)
Let’s hope after 2 weeks together 24 hrs a day my girls haven’t driven me to drink!

Is it a bird…Is it a plain…no it’s ….Envirogirl!

Well its school holidays…AGAIN!!!
The last week of school term 2 was full of fun times. Our favourite event was when Polly had to dress up as something from nature. They are learning all about their environment. She chose……a flower. Luckily thanks to the IKEA kids section we have a variety of odd dressing up costumes. Attired in a floral mask and blooming floral hat off she went…practically blooming with excitement!

Look but Don’t Touch!!!

When my eldest daughter Daisy was one, I bought  a Charlie Harper puzzle for her (who are we kidding….. for me) from a local craft market. I saw us playing with it together on the floor, learning letters…appreciating the gorgeous images…bonding.

5 years on and I am yet to allow her to even touch it such is my love of Mr Harper’s beautiful images. BAD MUMMMY!!!!!

In my defence, just after her 1st birthday, she did eat her board book copy of The Very Hungry Caterpillar. Leaving only the front cover! Eric Carle forgive her…she knew not what she did. I dread to think what her younger and crazier sister would do!

And so the puzzle sits on top of the bookshelf in our lounge room…safely boxed and out of reach from sticky fingers but still visible. I get it down from time to time and just admire the colours, the lines, the gorgeousness. I think I may need to buy a second version and let my girls loose on it.
